Depending on the instruction, this may include names and contact details; court and legal documents; medical, psychiatric, educational and social-care records; family information; assessment notes; correspondence; reports; financial and invoicing information; and other information supplied by instructing solicitors, courts, parties, professionals or relevant organisations.
Expert witness work may involve special-category information, particularly health information, and may also involve information about children, family members, allegations, safeguarding matters or criminal offences.
Why I process information
I process information where necessary to consider and manage enquiries and instructions; undertake independent assessments and records reviews; prepare, amend and provide expert reports; communicate with instructing parties and courts; comply with professional, legal and regulatory duties; manage conflicts, complaints, accounts and business administration; and establish, exercise or defend legal claims where applicable.
Lawful basis
The precise lawful basis depends on the processing activity. I document the applicable Article 6 UK GDPR lawful basis and, where special-category data is involved, the relevant Article 9 condition before or as part of the instruction. In expert witness work connected with actual or prospective legal proceedings, Article 9(2)(f) (legal claims or judicial acts) may apply where the processing is necessary for that purpose. Other bases or conditions may apply in particular circumstances.

Recipients may include instructing solicitors, the Court, other parties or experts where authorised or required, professional advisers, insurers/indemnity providers, and carefully selected service providers supporting secure email, document storage, accounting or IT. I do not sell personal information.
Storage and security
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect information, including access controls, strong authentication, encrypted devices and secure business systems. Access is limited to those who need it for a legitimate purpose.
Retention
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was obtained and to meet legal, professional, insurance, accounting and regulatory requirements. Retention periods are reviewed and information is securely deleted or destroyed when no longer required.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances and lawful basis, individuals may have rights including access, rectification, restriction, objection and erasure. These rights are not absolute and may be limited where information is required for legal proceedings or other lawful purposes. Requests should be sent to office@drsarahvohra.com.
